After making a Facebook post in response, the waitress receives a “$0” tip on a “$187” bill and draws attention.

A Colorado waitress utilised social media to share a lesson about working in the United States.

According to Mic, Taylar Cordova snapped a photo of the receipt and shared it on Facebook after receiving a tip of $0 on a $187.43 charge. A passionate and well-written comment on working as a server was included in her article.

She wrote, “You are the lowest of the low,” referring to everyone who leaves a tipless gesture and the customer who stiffed her. She went on to explain the repercussions of diners not adding the essential tip to their bill:

Every time you feel like you should skip leaving a tip for your server, remember that they already have a lot of bills to pay. This is food for the week that our families will be without because you decided it wasn’t required, even though you asked for and received everything and everything at no cost, mind you. My daughter doesn’t need this essential item anymore because even TWO more dollars would be too much for you.

Every choice has an effect. The base pay for servers ranges from $2 to $5 per hour, depending on the employer. The next time you decide not to leave a tip, regardless of the circumstances before receiving your bill, consider how much you would have to work that week to make ends meet on $2 to $5 per hour to feed your family and yourself. Based only on that salary, could you cover your expenses? Could you provide for yourself AND your family? Because when you decide not to tip, that is what happens.

The United States has verified her claims. “An employer of a tipped employee is only required to pay $2.13 per hour in direct wages if that amount combined with the tips earned at least equals the federal minimum wage,” according to the Department of Labor.
