Take it from us that our hearts have melted.
Every kid fantasizes about going to prom. And if they aren’t dreaming about it, they are surely anticipating it.
It’s a chance for young boys and girls to have a lovely evening with their dates and friends, to have fun, dance, and enjoy themselves before their school years end.
Prom night was not something Dakota Wollan of Watford City, North Dakota, was looking forward to. He had no notion who he should invite to the big occasion.
When the High School senior informed his parents that he had no plans to invite someone to prom with him, his father had an idea.
Dakota’s great-grandmother had never been to a prom, so he thought it would be fun to share the experience with her grandson.
The pupil was not at all offended when he heard the suggestion. And after a little time of consideration, he realized that this was the best idea he had ever had.
As a result, he decided to ask his grandmother for a proper proposal.
“I have this old truck she gave me; it’s a 1985 Ford that she passed down to me, and I fixed it up.” “So I took that truck and built a sign,” he explained to KFYR-TV.
The 92-year-old woman was taken aback when she spotted the placard. She couldn’t fathom why a young man would want to spend an important night with an elderly lady.
Wollan’s great-grandmother, Madeline Miller, stated, “I wondered why he would choose a 92-year-old coming to prom with him when there are so many young girls in the school.”
She, on the other hand, responded, “yes.” Dakota had already stated that if she didn’t go, he wouldn’t go either. So she didn’t have much choice.
According to the woman, she had never attended a prom before. She couldn’t even recall if there was such a thing back in her day.
Miller claimed that she barely stayed in high school for a year and a half because her father became ill and she was forced to help on the farm. So, this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to find out what the fuss was about with prom.
The big day finally arrived, and the couple was ready to enjoy the time of their life.
When they walked into the room, they immediately drew everyone’s attention. Boys and girls couldn’t help but admire them and wish them luck.
Miller remembers the night as “walking beside my great-grandson, listening to this music as we walked, with people clapping and yelling.”
As her great-grandson pointed out, the remainder of the students were ecstatic to see them.
“Everyone went crazy when we walked out on the floor,” Wallon remarked.
The couple’s dance was the highlight of the night, and it brought tears to many people’s eyes. What an uplifting experience!
